Information on parrot behavior, health, and more as well as pictures, stories, and shared experience
Welcome to parrots101! This community was created with two things in mind: Parrots and their owners. We're here to share pictures, stories, and most of all, information on the proper and safe care of our feathered companions. We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable posting here and for that reason, there are a few general rules everyone must follow in order to participate in our community:
  1. Treat each other with respect! Rudeness, harassment, name calling or anything else detrimental to our goal of sharing important information will not be tolerated.

  2. If you don't know and understand the answer to someone's question, don't pretend to! It's fine to tell them you've heard something is true or give them a link to information you've found on the subject but don't lead them to believe that you're giving a solid answer if you're not sure yourself. If you're merely pointing them in the right direction, make that clear. No one here knows everything there is to know about parrots but we all have something to contribute. Sharing information must be done responsibly and there is a LOT of misinformation out there in relation to parrots.

  3. Realize that you might not always get the answer that you wanted to hear but that we will tell you what you need to know. No one here should want to start an argument, but at the same time our primary concern is the well-being of our parrots. Giving you the easy way out could be giving your parrot a hard time and that's the last thing any of us (including you!) should want to do.

  4. If you're going to post pictures (and please do!!!) make sure they aren't of an unreasonable size. Try to keep the first one around 500x500 pixels and all other pictures behind an lj cut.
